Jena Armbruster : Instructor, Competitor & Judge
Jena was exposed to dance at the early age of 4, studying Ballet, Jazz, Modern & Tap and eventually focused on
Highland dance. She competed for over 12 years and was teaching at the age of 16. She took a short break from dance to
focus on her education gaining a Masters Degree in Human Genetics before returning to dance and re-focusing her attention
to Country and Swing dance. As well as teaching, competing & judging, she is currently in her 2nd year of Medicine at
the University of Calgary, and is becoming a Medical Doctor.
Jena along with her husband Keith Armbruster they are Canada's Top Competitive Country Dance Professionals and are great
examples of how dance can become a way of life. Jena met Keith dancing on a local performance dance team in Calgary and
began competing as an amateur couple in 2001. Their partnership and dance skills continued to grow … and success
and true love followed as they were married in 2004. They have earned a combined 9 United Country Western Dance Council
(UCWDC) World Championship Titles elevating them to having earned the most World Championships by any Couple in Canadian
history.
Jena and Keith continue to compete in the Classic Masters Division, is a certified UCWDC Journeyman Judge and along with
her husband are the proud Event Directors of the Calgary Dance Stampede,
and the Extreme Swing Weekend, both held annually in Calgary,
Alberta, Canada. They were also cast as professional dance extras in the Academy award winning movie "Brokeback Mountain (2005)".
