A local business offers a solution, get fit having fun through dance. Dancenergy, Alberta's largest dance studio, has been operating in Calgary for 4 years and says dance is one of the best forms of excercise and it's almost impossible not to have fun while dancing. Take a look at this video of Dr. Daniel Amen regarding dance for fitness and the health of your brain: Another Good Reason to Dance. Gerald Cote & Dale Tosczak, says the company offers programs for the "two left feet" beginner, to the social dancer, right up to the competitive dancer.
"We have so many people coming in saying they were at a function and saw a couple dancce and wanted to dance like that. Dancing is not as hard as people may think." Says Cote.
Cote says dancing seems to allow people an escape from the world in that they leave their day to day stresses at the door, they learn to dance, they have fun and they are getting a great workout without even realizing it. He adds that it is an exercise that people want to do rather than an exercise that they have to do.
"Often we will have a couple come in because they are getting married and they want the first dance to be glamourous, but then they get hooked and they keep coming back after their wedding."
At Dancenergy people can dance as little or as much as they like because Dancenergy offers a variety of packages; which serve the individuals based on how often that they come to the studio and offer lessons for couples or singles.
"We have the largest studio in Calgary and we love to fill it up. We offer one-on-one lessons but we also host 'Practice Parties' where people learn to dance with others in a group setting. It doesn't matter if you come as a couple or a single, you'll have lots of opportunity to dance with a variety of dancers."
It is important to dance with a variety of dancers as real life situations, like weddings, means that most often you'll end up dancing with more than one person, so it's essential to learn how to dance with multiple partners.
Dancenergy invites couples, singles and groups to consider dance as their new "fun fitness" exercise routine!
